When you are in a bright and comfortable office, the greatest danger to your health is to spill coffee or tea on yourself. But there are professions associated with a high risk of injury. Below we give top 5 most traumatic industries in Russia. It is based on data from the Social Insurance Fund. The list will allow employers to claim discounts when making contributions to compulsory accident insurance for employees and prof. diseases.
5. Underground coal mining
The number of insured events per thousand employees - 23.45
Coal is one of the most sought-after minerals on Earth. With a coal seam depth of up to 100 meters, the development is conducted in an open way. When coal seams occur at great depths, coal is mined in a closed, underground way. “At the exit” they get high-quality coal, and the underground mining method does less damage to the environment. But this is the most dangerous method of extraction (in particular, due to the collapse of structures and the banal violation of safety regulations, which are "written in blood"). And it also requires large financial investments.
4. Production of cryolite and aluminum fluoride
The number of insured events per thousand employees - 25.62
Mineral deposits called cryolite are very rare. It is necessary for producing aluminum using an electrolytic process, and is also used in the production of glass, hydrofluoric acid and enamels. Due to the rarity of cryolite, most of it is synthetically produced. Inhaling, applying to eyes and skin, and even more so swallowing cryolite is life threatening.
Aluminum fluoride is toxic and its dust or aerosol can cause serious poisoning if it enters the body.
3. Extraction and beneficiation of bauxite and nepheline-apatite ores
30.92 insured events per thousand employees
Bauxite is the most important aluminum ore. With few exceptions, the world aluminum industry is based on it. Usually mined by open, and less commonly underground methods.
After bauxites, nepheline-apatite ores were given the second place in industrial importance. They also refer to the type of aluminum raw materials. Explosions are frequent in bauxite and nepheline-apatite ore deposits, including due to safety violations.
2. Underground mining of brown coal
The number of insured events per thousand employees - 35.11
Brown coal is less valuable than coal, but its deposits are larger and they lie closer to the surface. It is a sedimentary rock, which was formed during the decomposition of ancient horsetails, pluns, tree ferns, horsetails and plunders and the first gymnosperms. The largest Russian brown coal deposit is the Solton deposit. According to Rostekhnadzor, the most common causes of accidents during underground operations are a malfunction of machinery and machines, an explosion of methane, and a rock mass collapse.
1. Mining, processing and sintering of coal
The number of insured events per thousand employees - 40.09
Heads the rating of traumatic hazardous industries. Specialists from this field of activity more often than others risk health and life, and until the moment when machines completely replace human labor in mines, it is still very far away.
And the safest, according to the FSS, are 276 industries, including the cultivation of earthworms, laboratory and domestic animals, the cultivation of nuts, fruits and tobacco.
